A Dash for the Timber by Frederic Remington

Between 1885 and 1888, Remington traveled to the Southwest on several occasions, mostly to cover the activities of the United States Cavalry in pursuit of renegade Apaches. The austere nature of the region had a profound impact on him, and he filled his sketchbooks with color notes and remarks about the unique quality of the light. He wrote to a friend in 1889, requesting two or three pairs of chaps as quickly as possible because he was working on "a big cowboy picture."

He was alluding to this picture, which launched his career the following year when it gained positive critical acclaim at the National Academy of Design in New York. As the fleeing riders gallop forward directly toward the viewer, the overall effect of the composition is compelling. Surprisingly, this film's cinematic quality foreshadows the plethora of western films that would come a generation later.

The perfect accent for any space! Each wood print is unique due to the natural qualities of each individual panel of wood.

• Wood canvas made from Birch wood sourced from sustainable Canadian forests
• UV set inks, meaning the print resists water
• Each wood print is made in Montreal, Canada
• Easy care, don’t touch the print if you don’t have to, but you can wipe it with a dry or damp cloth to remove dust
• Arrives ready to hang! 4-panel frame in back allows you to just pop the wood print on a small nail in the wall, no wires necessary
